Infants

Infants

0-6 Months Old

So many exciting developmental milestones take place during a baby’s first six months of life.

Our infant program focuses on babies’ social emotional development, sensory motor skills, and communication cues. Tummy time is scheduled daily, giving infants the opportunity to enhance their physical development. Routinely, each infant is provided with opportunities to explore materials of various colors, shapes, and sounds helping to develop their cognitive skills.

The needs of each infant are evaluated daily by Teachers following consistent feeding schedules, diaper changes, and nap times. Through holding, hugging, and communicating, each infant is nurtured with the goal of forming a trustworthy teacher and student relationship.

Waddlers

Waddlers

6-12 Months Old

At this stage, infants have become strong, independent sitters and are ready for the next stage of skill development. Our waddler program focuses on strengthening gross motor skills through exploration of the classroom environment.

With large open spaces, waddlers can choose from a variety of age-appropriate learning toys while also being allotted the opportunity to take first steps. Teachers encourage enhanced communication by introducing basic sign language partnered with beginner words throughout the day.

Waddlers are encouraged in their independence while still fully assisted through activities like self-feeding, and outdoor exploration. Parents can rest assured that their waddler student will develop a love for learning through self-discovery and social play.

Tweenies

Tweenies

1-2 Years Old

Teachers of our Tweenie students introduce learning in fun ways that keep them entertained while giving them exposure to important skillsets.

In applying a consistent schedule, various areas of academia are introduced at a beginner level, giving Tweenies opportunities to grasp new concepts and ideas. Through hands on lessons, and center time play Tweenies become familiar with decision making skills by choosing materials and toys independently.

Social interactions are encouraged through family style eating at mealtimes, daily circle time learning, and frequent outdoor play. Being able to discover the world around them in fun ways, makes being a Tweenie student such an exciting time.

Toddlers

Toddlers

2 Years Old

Our Toddler classes are specifically designed with terrific two-year-olds in mind! Toddler Teachers prioritize the continuation of building upon the child’s decision-making skills, and their curiosity and wonder for learning. Each area of academia is taught from a hands-on approach, with activities being teacher created and child led.

With a focus on strengthening fine motor skills, toddlers are presented with the ability to independently manipulate various objects through building and creating. Conversation skills become elaborate through frequent three-to-four-word sentence usage amongst the teacher and the toddlers as well as between the toddlers themselves. Toddlers in our program begin to discover problem solving skills through daily socialization both in the classroom and on the playground.

The structured Toddler schedule helps each young student in learning routines and becoming an important part of their classroom community. As Toddlers adapt to classroom expectations, they are challenged in further skillsets such as two-step related directions, and potty training.

Preschool

Preschool

3 Years Old

Communication is the key in our preschool program! By three years’ old, our preschoolers are expected to use consistent three to four word phrases, follow simple two step directions, and understand the concept of mine and yours.

Teachers challenge preschoolers to dive into learning by discovering concepts of color, space, and time. Daily classroom teaching is geared towards helping each student understand the “why” and “How” behind every lesson, situation, or idea.

Preschoolers in our program are taught the cause and effect of decisions and actions and encouraged to assist in finding simple solutions to everyday problems. Daily expectations that require full independence in our preschool program include being fully potty trained, eating meals, and putting away personal belongings. Each preschooler will be taught to enjoy and seek out various ways to move and play both indoor and outdoor by using their imagination and age-appropriate materials.

VPK

VPK

4 Years Old

At Nanny Jean’s Academy, learning takes place all day in VPK! Our VPK students are taught various skills through fun, daily planned activities and play. Weekly academic lessons are created through implementation of the VPK Florida state early learning standards and follow engaging themes.

Four-year-olds are challenged in the area of math, science, art, literacy, and reading through the use of various materials on a daily basis. Throughout the program, VPK students are expected to follow directions and be inquisitive of the world around them.

Our Certified VPK Teachers utilize the who, what, when, where, model to gage the curiosity of every student and make learning interactive. Enrolled VPK students are expected to complete everyday tasks independently and are given opportunities to use self-choice skills during center play, peer interactions, and at mealtimes. By the end of the school year, our VPK students graduate feeling confident in their academic understanding, with a solid foundation of kindergarten skillsets.
